1. Secure Your Preferred Date and Time
As senior season approaches, my schedule tends to fill up quickly. If you wait too long, you may find that your top choice for a photographer or the date you want for your session is already booked. By booking early, you have a better chance of securing the time and date that works best for you.
Another great thing bout it is that choosing the perfect date ensures that you get the light, location, and vibe you want for your session.
2. Take Advantage of Off-Peak Pricing and Discounts
Many photographers offer early bird discounts or special pricing for clients who book in advance( learn more about my early booking deals here). By planning ahead, you could potentially save money on your session or have access to additional perks like more outfit changes or a larger photo package.
3. More Time for Planning and Customization
The earlier you book your session, the more time you have to plan every detail. You can take your time choosing outfits, selecting a location, and deciding on the overall style or theme of your shoot.
Planning ahead gives you the opportunity to collaborate with your photographer on creative ideas for the session.
I personally love to have extra time to get to know my clients better and assure I understand their vision for the photos.
4. Relax and Avoid Stress
Senior year can be a whirlwind of activities—homecoming, college applications, sports, and, of course, preparing for graduation. The last thing you want is the added stress of scrambling to find an available photographer or rushing to get your senior photos done in time. Booking early removes this stress, giving you one less thing to worry about.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s helpful to book in advance so you can set aside time to focus on other important senior year tasks—knowing your photos are already taken care of!
5. Ensure You Have Time to Review and Order Your Photos
Once your senior photos are taken, there’s still the important task of reviewing, selecting, ordering and print your images. If you wait until the last minute to book, you might find yourself in a time crunch, especially if you need the images for yearbook submissions or graduation announcements.
Make sure to ask your photographer about turnaround times for editing and how long you have to select and order prints. Having ample time to make these decisions ensures you get the best results.
